This website is run by Northern Estates, a property, finance and interiors business in Marbella that works alongside partner agencies to guide people through buying and moving. We are responsible for the personal data described here (the "controller" under data protection law).

What we collect, and why

When you send us an enquiry

Our contact forms, the forms on our guides and the finance and interiors pages ask for your name, email address and phone number, and may include your message, how you prefer to be contacted, the services you are interested in and when you are planning to move. We also record which page you sent it from and your IP address, which helps us spot spam.

We use this to reply to you and to follow up on what you asked about. The legal basis is taking steps you have asked for before any agreement with us, and our legitimate interest in answering and following up enquiries.

When you join our newsletter

If you sign up, or tick the newsletter box on a form, we keep your email address, when you joined and where you signed up. We use it only to send our newsletter. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time: reply to any newsletter or write to [email protected], and we will stop. Our subscriber list is stored encrypted.

When you browse the site

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It does not use cookies, does not build a profile of you and does not follow you across other websites; it tells us which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from and what devices they use. Our hosting provider also handles your IP address briefly to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure, useful website.

Cookies

This site does not set any cookies and does not store anything in your browser, so there is nothing to accept or decline. If that ever changes, we will update this page and ask for your consent first where the law requires it.

Financial planning and interiors enquiries

If you ask about financial planning, your enquiry goes to Ben Eccles so that he can reply. Northern Estates does not provide financial advice. If you go on to take advice, that relationship is with the regulated firm Ben advises through, which looks after your data under its own privacy notice. Interiors enquiries go to Jade, who works for Northern Estates.

Who else handles your data

We do not sell your data or share it for anyone else's marketing. We use a few service providers to run the site and our email:

• Cloudflare hosts the website, processes the forms when you press send, routes email to our inbox and provides the visit counts described above.
• Resend delivers enquiry emails and our newsletter.
• Google provides the mailbox where we receive and answer your emails.

Your enquiry is also stored on our own server so that nothing is lost if an email fails. Some of these providers are based in the United States. Where your data leaves the European Economic Area, it is protected by safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

If you message us on WhatsApp or through our Instagram or Facebook pages, those services handle the message under their own privacy policies.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries: two years after your last contact with us, then deleted. If you become a client, we keep what the law requires us to keep about the transaction, for example under anti-money-laundering rules, for as long as it requires.
• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. We then keep a record that you left, so you are never added back by mistake; ask us and we will delete that too.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or send it to you in a portable format, and you can object to how we use it. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Write to [email protected] and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (www.aepd.es), or to the authority where you live.

Changes to this policy

When anything here changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
